Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Teaching School Hub

The way teaching schools are organised has changed.  There is now one hub for all Cambridgeshire and Peterborough schools. The lead school for this is Histon and Impington Junior School, part of Cambridge Primary Education Trust (CPET).  It has been designated by the Department for Education (DfE) on 10th February 2021.

Background

A total of 81 new Teaching School Hubs have been selected to provide high-quality professional development to teachers and leaders in England, with a £65 million investment from the DfE over an initial three years. Each hub, all of which will be operational and helping schools from September 2021, will have its own defined geographical patch and will be expected to be accessible to all schools within that area, serving on average around 250 schools each.

The teaching school hub programme is part of a comprehensive strategy dedicated to supporting teachers throughout their teaching career. It forms part of the implementation of the recruitment and retention strategy to raise teacher quality and effectiveness. The teaching school hub programme was announced in 2019 and was followed by procurement to successfully appoint 6 test and learn hubs.
